ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Beat Patrol Program Grant from the State of wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance, in the amount of $406,065 with a city share of $256,065 and a grantor share of $150,000. The purpose of the project is to work with residents to identify and resolve crime and quality of life issues which impact upon the neighborhood.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Office of Justice Assistance for additional beat patrol officers to work with the residents to identify and resolve crime and quality of life issues which impact upon the neighborhood; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/98 to 12/31/98 would cost $406,065 of which $256,065 (63%) would be provided by the city and $150,000 (37%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Encumber in the parent accounts of the 1998 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project/program titled "beat patrol program grant":
