Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee, Department of City Development, to accept up to $400,000 in private sector contributions to augment the City's match in the funding of State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Brownfields Site Assessment Grants for assessment and removal of underground storage tanks and demolition on various brownfields throughout the City of Milwaukee.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) did approve via Common Council File No. 020846 adopted 10/15/2002, File No. 031348 adopted 2/10/2004 and File No. 040857 adopted 11/3/2004, Site Assessment Grants from the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for assessment and remediation of various brownfield sites in the City; and

Whereas, The City recognizes that the remediation and redevelopment of brownfields is an important part of protecting Wisconsin's natural resources; and

Whereas, The Department of Administration, Intergovernmental Relations Division, has determined that the benefits to the City from the acceptance of private sector contributions appears to exceed the City's share of costs and other obligations to be incurred under the various approved Grants; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that acceptance of private sector contributions to augment the City's contribution to various Grants from the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to be administered by the Department of City Development is authorized; and, be it
