Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) to accept and expend $140,435.98 from the State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue which represents the MPD's share of Controlled Substance Taxes collected by the State of Wisconsin since 1990. (Police Department)
BODY:
Whereas, The Common Council passed File Number 930380 on July 6, 1993, an ordinance codifying the City's procedural guidelines regarding the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department has received a check for $140,435.98 which represents accumulated drug taxes collected by the State of Wisconsin since drug tax legislation was passed in 1990; and

Whereas The State Attorney General is now disbursing these funds to various law enforcement agencies, including the MPD; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept and expend these funds for law enforcement purposes, in accordance with established State Statutes and City policies and procedures for acceptance of contributions; and, be it

Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a Special Account within the Police Department's budget for the expenditure of this contribution; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund - General, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-D001-006300, and the estimated revenue account for Contributions, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-009850 to the Police Department's special account 0001-3310-0001-Dxxx-006800 and the Police Department's estimated revenue account 0001-3310-0001-009850 up to the amount of $140,435.98; and, be it
