Resolution relative to the application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Harbor Assistance Grant Project for the Port of Milwaukee in connection with road and rail crossing rehabilitation on East Jones Street and Lincoln Memorial Drive.
BODY:
Whereas, By Common Council Resolution File No. 983055, the Common Council authorized application for and acceptance of a Grant to rehabilitate the road and rail crossing in East Jones Street (formerly Scott Street) and South Lincoln Memorial Drive in the Port area. The resolution indicated the Grant could be accepted unless the amount of Out-of-Pocket City share increased above $190,000; and

Whereas, Because of a shortage in funds in the HAP Grant Program, the full amount of the State's share was not available. Under the terms of the final Grant offered to the City, the State's share of the $950,000 project would be $600,000 (63%) and the City's share would be $350,000 (37%); and

Whereas, This represents a substantial savings over what it would cost if the City did this project without the Grant; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Port of Milwaukee is authorized to accept the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation State aid for harbor related work in connection with road and rail crossing rehabilitation East Jones Street and South Lincoln Memorial Drive; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials and/or the Municipal Port Director are hereby authorized to sign the aforementioned Grant without further Common Council appr...
