Title:
Substitute resolution appropriating monies from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the Fire Department's Operating Expenditures Account for the purpose of funding the Fire Fighting Clothing Commissary.
Analysis
Adoption of this resolution authorizes an appropriation of $140,000.00 from the 2001 Common Council Contingent Fund to cover a shortage in the Fire Department's Operating Expenditures Account due to the implementation costs of the Fire Fighting Clothing Commissary.
 
Body
Whereas, The Fire Department is required to provide appropriate safety equipment to its employees (fire fighters) through Wisconsin Department of Commerce regulation Chapter Comm. 30.11, and
 
Whereas, The City and Local #215 reached agreement to implement a three-year uniform replacement commissary system commencing on June 1, 2001, and
 
Whereas, Due to the timing of the agreement, the first year costs of this plan (approximately $372,200) were not able to be included in the 2001 budget, and
 
Whereas, The Fire Department has worked to absorb as much of these costs within their 2001 budget, and
 
Whereas, The Fire Department's Operating Expenditure account is depleted due to these expenses and the department has outstanding 2001 invoices that remain to be paid; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to transfer $140,000.00 from the Common Council Contingent Fund (0001-9990-C001-2001-006300) to the Fire Department's Operating Expenditures Account (0001-3280-R999-006300-2001).
