This resolution appropriates $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account to fund City participation in the 2014 RCN Breakfast Gathering at the International Council of Shopping Centers annual convention held in Las Vegas May 18 - 20, 2014.

Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City’s economic development programs and attracting new industry to the City; and
Whereas, The purpose of The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is to advance the shopping center industry and to promote its role in the commercial distribution of consumer goods and services; and
Whereas, RECon is the ICSC’s annual convention for the shopping center industry and provides networking, deal making and educational opportunities for retail real estate professionals from around the world; and
Whereas, Over 34,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors are expected at the ICSC’s annual convention held in Las Vegas May 18 - 20, 2014; and
Whereas, Contacts made at this convention may lead to future retail projects in the City; and
Whereas, The Retail Christian Network (RCN) provides another avenue for professionals in the shopping center industry to connect and encourage one another; and
Whereas, The appropriation of $5,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund for participation in the 2014 RCN Breakfast Gathering on May 20, 2014 provides an opportunity for the City to network with industry professionals; now, therefore, be it
