Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the acceptance and expenditure of a donation from the Urban Ecology Center for the improvement of the Riverside Park playground.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works – Buildings and Fleet Division to accept and expend a donation of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment at the Riverside Park playground in conjunction with the Riverside Park Revitalization Project.

Body
Whereas, The Department of Public Works – Buildings and Fleet Division has received an offer of donation consisting of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the improvement of the Riverside Park playground in conjunction with the Riverside Park Revitalization Project; and

Whereas, The donation will be for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment, specifically a multi-age play area swing and a toddler dune play area, to aid in the creation of an innovative new play garden, dubbed the "Habitat," that will be the City's first Eco-Playground; and

Whereas, The Habitat Play Garden will provide for an alternative to traditional parks and playground equipment by allowing young naturalists to learn about and interact with the natural environment that exists in urban areas while leveraging playtime as an opportunity to foster environmental stewardship; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works – Buildings and Fleet Division is authorized to accept and expend a donation of $50,000 from the Urban Ecology Center for the purposes of purchasing and installing playground equipment at the Riverside Park playground, in accordance with established City policies and procedures for acceptance of contributions; and, be it
