Analysis

This resolution implements a 2026 Budget footnote directing the Health Department to collaborate with the Department of Employee Relations to develop strategies to prevent Health Department clinic closures caused by staffing shortages.

Body

Whereas, The Health Department operates public health clinics that provide essential services to residents and rely on adequate staffing to maintain consistent operations; and

 

Whereas, Health Department staffing shortages may result in clinic closures or reduced service availability, affecting access to care and public health outcomes; and

 

Whereas, The 2026 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 250001 on November 7, 2025; and

Whereas, Amendment 111 placed a footnote in the 2026 Budget directing the Health Department to collaborate with the Department of Employee Relations to develop strategies to prevent Health Department clinic closures due to staffing shortages.

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is directed to collaborate with the Department of Employee Relations to develop strategies aimed at preventing clinic closures resulting from staffing shortages; now, therefore, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Health Department and Department of Employee Relations shall provide a report of these strategies to the Common Council within 30 days of adoption of this resolution.
