This resolution invites the National League of Cities to hold its Year 2006 Congress of Cities and Exposition in the City of Milwaukee and expresses the City's intent to provide utmost assistance to the league to make the conference a success.
BODY:
Whereas, The National League of Cities is the oldest, largest and most representative municipal organization in the United States; and

Whereas, Over 1,400 cities and towns of all sizes and 49 state municipal leagues throughout the nation belong to the National League of Cities; and

Whereas, The National League of Cities represents its members before Congress and federal agencies, conducts training and technical assistance programs for city officials, keeps members up-to-date on the latest innovations and legislative developments in cities and towns throughout the country; and

Whereas, The National League of Cities annually convenes its Congress of Cities and Exposition in various cities around the country, attracting between 7,000 to 9,000 delegates; and

Whereas, The 4-day conference provides a wide variety of educational and training opportunities for municipal officials; and

Whereas, At the Congress of Cities, local officials hear prominent national leaders present ideas about the future of cities, vote on the NLC's National Municipal Policy, and attend practical and innovative workshops on critical urban issues; and

Whereas, The educational emphasis of the Congress of Cities provides an ideal atmosphere to compare, examine and learn about innovative products and services used by cities; and

Whereas, The National League of Cities is in the process of selecting a city to host such a conference in 2006; and
