Title
Substitute motion approving a city charter school contract with King's Academy.
Analysis
On May 25, 2010, the Common Council authorized a 2-year contract with King's Academy to operate a charter school, as recommended by the Charter School Review Committee. This motion approves a new 2-year charter school contract recommended by the Charter School Review Committee, which is attached to this file, and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the contract.
 
Body
Whereas, On May 25, 2010, the Common Council, by motion, approved the proposed 2-year charter school contract for King's Academy submitted by the City Attorney and directed the appropriate City officials to execute the contract substantially in the form attached to the file; and
 
Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee has recommended a new 2-year charter school contract with King's Academy to take effect when the school's current contract expires; and
 
Whereas, The City Attorney has successfully negotiated a proposed 2-year charter school contract with King's Academy, which is attached to this file; now, therefore
 
It is moved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the proposed 2-year charter school contract with King's Academy submitted by the City Attorney and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the contract substantially in the form attached to this file, with such revisions as may be required by the City Attorney.
