Resolution in support of an application by the Lincoln Village Business Association to the State of Wisconsin Department of Commerce for participation in the National Historic Trust Main Street Program to promote revitalization of Lincoln Avenue. (DCD)
Analysis
This resolution provides Common Council support to the Lincoln Village Business Association in their efforts to revitalize the Lincoln Avenue area. This will be done through technical assistance provided by the State of Wisconsin and staff assistance and promotional activities provided by the City of Milwaukee's Department of City Development. The Program requires the Lincoln Village Business Association to expend a total of $45,000 each year for three years.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee ("City") through the Department of City Development is engaged in economic development activities city-wide, including in the Lincoln Avenue area; and

Whereas, The Lincoln Village Business Association is currently involved in the revitalization efforts of the Lincoln Avenue business district from South 5th Street to South 20th Street; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Commerce will provide technical assistance to the Lincoln Village Business Association for the purpose of revitalization to include preservation of buildings, enhancing aesthetics, strengthening existing businesses and promotion of the district; and

Whereas, There is no fiscal impact to the City; and

Whereas, The Department of Administration, Intergovernmental Relations Division, has determined that the benefits to the City from this Program appear to exceed the City's share of participation and obligations under this Program; now, therefore, be it
