Substitute resolution relative to application for the TEACH Educational Technology Training and Technical Assistance Grant.
 
ANLS:
This substitute resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) to apply for a TEACH Technology Training Grant project from the State of Wisconsin in the amount of $588,303 with a city share of $88,634 and a grantor share of $499,669. The purpose of the project will allow MPL in cooperation with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) to develop a service delivery model and standardized curricula for training library patrons, MPL parents, and community members to use computers, the Internet, and other information resources.
 
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin TEACH Educational Program; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January, 1999 to June 30, 2000 would cost $588,303 of which $88,634(15%) would be provided by the city and $499,669(85%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin TEACH Educational Program is authorized.
