Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to enter into a memorandum of agreement between the Milwaukee Police Department and the United States Secret Service. The Milwaukee Police Department and the United States Secret Service have established procedures and responsibilities for computer/network training given to the Milwaukee Police Department regarding crimes involving computer technology that will be provided by the United States Secret Service.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department and the United States Secret Service have established procedures and responsibilities for computer/network training given to the Milwaukee Police Department that will be provided by the United States Secret Service; and
Whereas, The purpose of the relationship between the Milwaukee Police Department and the United States Secret Service is to improve the safety of the citizens of Milwaukee by advancing investigative efforts of the Milwaukee Police Department as it pertains to crimes involving computer technology; and
Whereas, A memorandum of agreement, a copy of which is attached to this file, describes the arrangement between the Milwaukee Police Department and the United States Secret Service is not intended to be a formal contract but rather an understanding to facilitate cooperation among the various participants involved; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council authorizes the Chief of Police or her designee to enter into the memorandum of agreement on behalf of the City of Milwaukee and its Police Department.
