This resolution creates a 3-member Municipal Court Resource Needs Evaluation Study Group to evaluate the judicial and other resources necessary to meet the strategic objectives of the Municipal Court. The Chair of the Judiciary and Legislation Committee, the President of the Common Council and the Mayor shall each appoint one member of the Study Group. The Study Group shall present its findings and recommendations to the Judiciary and Legislation Committee by February 23, 1998.
BODY:
Whereas, The 1998 City of Milwaukee budget includes $181,651 in the operating budget of the Municipal Court to allow for full-time use of court commissioners at the municipal intake courtroom in the Criminal Justice Facility; and

Whereas, The Common Council has not placed these funds in the court's operating budget but in a Special Purpose Fund in escrow until the Common Council determines that the funds should be released for their intended purpose; and

Whereas, A Municipal Court Resource Needs Evaluation study group could help the Common Council evaluate the judicial and other resources that are needed by the Municipal Court to meet its strategic objectives so that the Common Council can determine when to release the funds; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that a Municipal Court Resource Needs Evaluation Study Group is created to evaluate the judicial and other resources necessary to meet the strategic objectives of the court; and, be it
