Ms. Bielmeir said that 12-15% of the students are learning the language and 15-25% are students with special needs. She added that the more students are enrolled, there are more needs and that they do what they can, with the money that they receive. She said that according to the presentation, the students are not at the desired level yet but achieving and that students have to show a high growth year after year. She also said that the state report card indicates that students are growing at a faster rate than others with same demographics. She explained that the curriculum they use, helps the students to feel confident about themselves, they take more chances academically and it's when they just take off. Dr. Ali said that 10-12% of the charter schools nationwide are unionized, that this school is very democratic because it is a choice for students and teachers. He added that they have 15 licensed teachers, 1 is under the licensing program and 4 about to get started.	Pass	7:0

Analysis
This motion approves the renewal of a charter school contract with Milwaukee Math and Science Academy for another 5-year term beginning with the 2026-2027 school year and ending with the 2030-2031 school year, as recommended by the Charter School Review Committee.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, acting by its Common Council, is authorized under s. 118.40 (2r), Wis. Stats., to establish and monitor the operation of charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council has empowered the Charter School Review Committee to make recommendations to the Council regarding charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 100280, adopted on July 27, 2010, entered into a charter school contract with Milwaukee Math and Science Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 2011-2012 school year and ending with the 2015-2016 school year; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 151658, adopted on March 29, 2016, renewed a charter school contract with Milwaukee Math and Science Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 2016-2017 school year and ending with the 2020-2021 school year; and

Whereas, The Common Council, through Common Council File Number 200893, adopted on December 15, 2020, renewed a charter school contract with Milwaukee Math and Science Academy for a 5-year term commencing with the 2021-2022 school year and ending with the 2025-2026 school year; and

Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee, at its meeting of November 3, 2025, voted unanimously to recommend to the Common Council that the charter school contract between Milwaukee Math and Science Academy and the City be renewed for an additional 5-year term; now, therefore
