Title

Resolution to Authorize City Entry Into Silver Mill Mall Police License Agreement.

Analysis

Resolution authorizes City entry into a license agreement with Silver Mill Management Company, LLC for rent-free space to be used by the Police Department, its Community Liaison Officer, and Auxiliary Police Officers for meeting purposes.

Body

Whereas, Silver Mill Management Company, LLC (“Owner”) owns 6063-6245 N. Teutonia Avenue, Milwaukee (the “Mall”) and wishes to extend free use of the same to the City’s Police Department for meeting purposes for the Police Department, its Community Liaison Officer, and Auxiliary Police Officers; and

 

Whereas, The Owner and the Police Department, with the assistance of the City Attorney’s Office, negotiated the “Silver Mill Mall Police License Agreement” that is part of this file, which agreement governs the terms and conditions of the City’s use of the free space in the Mall; and

 

Whereas, Under the agreement, either party can terminate on 30 days advance notice, use of the space is rent-free, no security deposit is required, and the Owner pays all utilities for the subject space except for phone and computer service; and

 

Whereas, Recognizing that the negotiated agreement reflects an arrangement that is beneficial to the City and to the community; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Chief of Police (or her designee) and City officers are authorized to enter into the agreement that is part of this file (or one substantially similar thereto meeting the description contained herein); and

 

Further Resolved, That appropriate City officials are authorized to take such further actions as are contemplated by or required by the agreement and this resolution.
