Analysis

This ordinance adds one alternate member to the standards and appeals commission: the commissioner of the department of public works, or the commissioner’s designee.  The alternate shall act, with full power, only when a member of the board refuses to vote because of conflict of interest or when a member is absent.

Body

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1.  Section 200-17-1-b to d of the code is renumbered 200-17-1-c to e.

Part 2.  Section 200-17-1-b of the code is created to read:

200-17.                     Standards and Appeals Commission.

1.  MEMBERS.

b.  The commissioner of the department of public works, or the commissioner’s designee, shall serve as an alternate member of the commission.  The alternate shall act, with full power, only when a member of the board refuses to vote because of conflict of interest or when a member is absent.

Part 3.  Section 200-17-1-c of the code is amended to read:

c.  Commission members >>, except the alternate,<< shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to the approval of the common council, for a term of 3 years.
