This charter ordinance clarifies that the member of the annuity and pension board to be elected by vote of persons who have been members but who have been retired from the retirement system and receive a retirement allowance, must be retired.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
 
Part 1. Section 36-15-2-d is amended to read as follows:
 
36-15. Administration.
 
2. MEMBERSHIP.
 
d. One >>retired<< member to be elected by the vote of persons who had been members but who have retired from the retirement system and receive a retirement allowance, to serve for a term of 4 years. The election of such person shall be conducted in the same manner as is the election of an employe member under par. c except, however, that only retirees as herein described shall be allowed to vote in such election. Nothing herein contained shall preclude any member elected to the board from succeeding himself or herself.
 
Part 2. This is a charter ordinance and shall take effect 60 days after its passage and publication, unless within such 60 days a referendum petition is filed as provided in s. 66.01(5), Wis. Stats., in which event this ordinance shall not take effect until submitted to a referendum and approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon.
