Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller to execute two State Municipal Agreements with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the installation of traffic signal improvements and to fund preliminary engineering for two projects at 41 intersections in various Aldermanic Districts. The total estimated cost of the two projects is $437,700 with a grantor share of $392,130, and a City share of $45,570. The total estimated preliminary engineering cost for the two projects is $54,400, with a grantor share of $47,160 and a City share of $7,240. Whereas, Preliminary approval has been requested and received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, along with two State Municipal Agreements to be executed by the City of Milwaukee, for the installation of traffic signal improvements under the 2023 Signals and ITS Standalone Program; and

Whereas, Eight inch signal displays were identified at 34 connecting highway intersections; and

Whereas, Seven connecting highway intersections have been identified for the installation of video vehicle detection equipment; and

Whereas, The installation of larger twelve inch signal displays at the 34 intersections will reduce the frequency and severity of crashes throughout the project area, particularly right angle and rear end crashes; and
