This resolution authorizes and directs the City Engineer and the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into a contract with a consulting engineering firm to evaluate existing pavements and recommend improvement treatments on approximately 16 miles of City streets.


BODY:
Whereas, In previous years, the City has engaged a consulting firm to test and provide a report evaluating existing pavement and recommending an improvement treatment on City streets scheduled for paving each year; and

Whereas, The reports have proven helpful in determining the most economical and adequate pavement treatment for the proposed street improvement; and

Whereas, Such a report would be desirable for approximately 16 miles of City streets proposed for improvement in 2001/2002/2003; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with a qualified consulting engineering firm to perform tests on existing pavements and to recommend the most economical, adequate street improvements for approximately 16 miles of City streets included in the 2001/2002/2003 Paving Program, at a project cost not to exceed $20,000, and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer $20,000 from the Paving-Reconstruction-Resurface Account No. 0333-5230-000600-ST211000000 to the appropriate sub-account, to pay for costs associated with this pavement evaluation contract.
