Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of 2024-2025 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a 2024-2025 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program grant from the Executive Office of the President Office of National Drug Control Policy in the amount of $183,989 with a city share of $22,681 and a grantor share of $161,308. The grant funds allow continued participation in the North Central High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program. The purpose of the grant is to reduce violent crime by dismantling and disrupting drug networks and organizations that operate in the Milwaukee area and across the state. The grant funds five task force initiatives and establishes separate grant accounts for the Drug Gang, Fugitive, Interdiction, and Opioid Task Forces and the Investigation Support Center.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #95.001, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Executive Office of the President Office of National Drug Control Policy to continue participation in the North Central High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program to reduce violent crime by dismantling and disrupting drug networks and organizations that operate in the Milwaukee area and across the state; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/1/2024 to 12/31/2025 would cost $183,989 of which, $22,681 (6%) would be provided by the city and $161,308 (94%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
