Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of a 2000 Honda Accord from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company to be used by the Department to assist in the apprehension of auto theft suspects.
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation, and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
Whereas, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company has offered to donate a 2000 Honda Accord for use by the Milwaukee Police Department; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department will be equipped with leased video equipment and a kill switch that will assist in the apprehension of auto theft suspects and possibly reduce the number of these offenses; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept a donation of a 2000 Honda Accord from State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company; and, be it
Further Resolved, That such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
