Title:
Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in connection with After School Patrols.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Milwaukee Board of School Directors in connection with after school patrols in the amount of $60,000. The Police Department will furnish fully marked police squads to patrol each of the areas constituting and directly surrounding schools that the Board and the Police Department mutually determine would benefit from patrols. The squads shall patrol these areas during mutually agreed upon hours between the MPS Director of the Division of School Safety and the Police Department.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible to enter into an Intergovernmental agreement with the Milwaukee Public Schools in connection with after school patrols; and
Whereas, The Police Department may enter into agreements exceeding $50,000 that have been approved by the Chief of Police as indicated in Section 312-26, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and
Whereas, The period of this agreement from 09/01/16 to 06/07/17 would fund $60,000 towards the salaries, fringe benefits and overtime of six officers; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the agreement with the Milwaukee Public Schools is authorized, and the Police Department shall accept these funds without further approval; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriate City officials are authorized to sign the attached intergovernmental cooperation agreement with the Milwaukee Public Schools in connection with after school patrols.
