Analysis

This resolution authorizes the one additional year to the billing of North 14th Street from West Lloyd Street to West North Avenue.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct and levy special assessments for North 14th Street from West Lloyd Street to West North Avenue (ST21110117) File Number 991032: and,

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted resolution 001435 which approved the levying of assessments and construction of assessable public improvements for North 14th Street; and,

Whereas, Resolution 001435 approved that the project will be billed after January 1, 2003, but not before 12 months after the project contract has been completed; and,

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has been working with the North Central Neighborhood Development to encourage new home construction on previously vacant city-owned lots; and,

Whereas, Along this street there are several properties on which new homes are in the process of construction; and

Whereas, The special assessments for the properties averages $2500; and

Whereas, An additional year added to late billing would give the owners additional time to prepare for the bill; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that North 14th Street will be billed after January 1, 2004.
