This ordinance increases the ambulance conveyance rate that ambulance service providers may charge under the city-wide emergency medical service system from $231.50 to $244.15. The mileage rate per conveyance remains unchanged, $6.49 per mile.

This ordinance also codifies ambulance ancillary fees for service equipment and procedures (currently found in resolution file number 970812) and adds 2 new fees: combitube - $42.50, and epinephrine - $35.15.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 75-15-14-b of the code is repealed and recreated to read:

75-15. AMBULANCE CERTIFICATION REGULATIONS.

14. AMBULANCE RATE.

b. Upon request, the legislative reference bureau shall provide the commissioner with information from health-related cost indexes, including the medical care component of the Milwaukee consumer price index issued by the U.S. bureau of labor statistics.

Part 2. Section 75-15-14-c and d of the code is amended to read:

c. A rate of [[$231.50]] >>$244.15<< shall be charged for conveyance plus a charge of $6.49 per mile, mileage to be defined as the distance traveled with the patient in the ambulance from the point of patient origin to destination.

d. In those instances where a certified ambulance provider has a contract with any health maintenance organization with respect to establishment of fees for ambulance services for persons insured through the organization, the fees established in the contract shall take precedence over those in [[sub. 12-s and this paragraph]] >> par. c and sub. 15 << and the provider shall charge only those fees establish...
