Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works, Infrastructure Services Division, to accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Green Solutions grant for the construction of permeable pavers in the southerly parking lanes of East Linus Street from South Kinnickinnic Avenue to South Logan Avenue in the amount of $211,000. The permeable pavers will be constructed as part of the City’s 2024 street paving program. The resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a post installation Maintenance Covenant with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) is responsible for collecting and treating wastewater from local sewerage systems; and

Whereas, Green infrastructure, such as permeable pavements, reduces the volume of stormwater in the sewer system and the amount of pollutants discharged to surface waters; and

Whereas, MMSD desires to promote the installation of Best Management Practices such as permeable pavements and is willing to provide the City funding as part of its Green Solutions Program; and

Whereas, The Common Council File Numbers 220407 authorizing the reconstruction of entire roadway of East Linus Street between South Kinnickinnic Avenue and South Logan Avenue is submitted; and

Whereas, The City has prepared plans to install permeable pavers in the southerly parking lanes of said portion of East Linus Street; and

Whereas, The cost of the permeable pavers portion of the roadway reconstruction projects...
