This resolution authorizes the Department of Employe Relations (DER)to enter into a new agreement with the Milwaukee County Transit System to offer a reduced bus fare program for city employes. Milwaukee County is discontinuing the current employe bus fare discount program. Under the Commuter Value Pass Program, which the Transit System is promoting, a city employe pays $15 per month, and the city pays $20 per employe per month for participation. This resolution also authorizes DER to institute a payroll deduction system for the employe-share of the program. The reduced bus fare program is a 6-month pilot program and will be evaluated by DER at the end of pilot term.
BODY:
Whereas, The Milwaukee County Transit System is discontinuing the current employe bus fare discount program; and

Whereas, The reduced bus fare program, begun in 1989, has increased bus ridership by city employes; and

Whereas, The Commuter Value Pass Program has been promoted by the Transit System as an alternative to the discontinued program; and

Whereas, The city still wishes to continue to offer employes a reduced bus fare program to encourage bus ridership; and

Whereas, This program currently requires that city employes pay $15 per month for unlimited use of Milwaukee County Transit buses; and

Whereas, The city would currently pay $20 per month per employe participating in the program; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employe Relations is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Milwaukee County Transit System pertaining to the Commuter Value Pass Program; and, be it
