Title
Substitute resolution approving guidelines for the location, design and operation of sidewalk area dining facilities.
Analysis
This resolution approves the sidewalk area dining permit guidelines, which are being revised and included into the Code of Ordinances, as referenced in section 115-32.6 of the code. This resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to use these guidelines in evaluating and permitting applications for sidewalk dining area permits.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has many outdoor cafes located in public sidewalk areas; and
Whereas, The outdoor café permit process is outlined in s. 115-32.6 of the code; and
Whereas, Section 115-32.6-6 references outdoor cafe guidelines to be reviewed and approved by the Common Council, which are to be used in administering the provisions of s. 115-32.6; and
Whereas, Design guidelines standards are being revised and included into the Code of Ordinances; and
Whereas, The proposed guidelines are attached to this file; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Sidewalk Area Dining Permit Guidelines attached to this file are approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to use these guidelines in administering the provisions of s. 115-32.6.
