Analysis

This resolution establishes a project account for the closure study of the City landfill located at 3342 North Argonne Drive (Hartung Quarry)

Body

Whereas, The 2001 budget contains an account in the Department of Public Works budget to undertake environmental projects during the year 2001; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns a landfill located at 3342 North Argonne Drive known as the Hartung Quarry; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works is using this landfill for clean construction debris and the landfill will in the future need to be closed as directed by the Department of Natural Resources; and

Whereas, It would be in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee to begin the closure process at this time to assure approval of the final grading plan and final closure plan by the Department of Natural Resources; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer $70,000 from the Department of Public Works Environmental Parent Account to the appropriate capital purpose subaccount.
