Title:
Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of a renewal of the Operation Ceasefire Program Grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to renew its Operation Ceasefire Program Grant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, in the amount of $25,000 with a city share of $-0- and a grantor share of $25,000. The purpose of the project is to achieve maximum coordination and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to identify, investigate and prosecute felons in possession of firearms, and those individuals, organizations, and sources of firearms who knowingly and willingly facilitate the unlawful acquisition of firearms.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for renewal of grant funds from the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives for an Operation Ceasefire Grant; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/2009 to 9/30/2010 would cost $25,000 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is authorized and that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2009 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Operation Ceasefire Grant:
