Currently the building code prescribes that no projecting sign at the lowest point be less than 10 feet above the established grade. This ordinance reduce the minimum clearance to 8 feet, 6 inches in the historic third wards.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows.
 
Part 1. Section 244-10-2-c of the code is amended to read:
 
244-10. Projecting Signs.
 
2.      PROJECTION CLEARANCE.
 
c.      No projecting sign shall at the lowest point be less than 10 feet above the established grade immediately below >>, except in the historic third ward where a minimum of 8 feet, 6 inches is prescribed<<.
