This resolution authorizes the City to enter into an amendment to an existing contract with Standard Insurance Company to provide long-term disability benefits to certain non-City employees of the Frederick Pabst Theatre Board, at no cost to the City, and authorizes the City to enter into an agreement with the Pabst Theatre Board to facilitate the purchase of such insurance for its employees. _______________________________________________________


BODY:
WHEREAS, The Department of Employee Relations, Employe Benefits Division, has recommended an amendment to the existing policy of insurance between the City of Milwaukee and Standard Insurance Company, Group Policy No. 626556-A (the "Group Policy"), under which long-term disability benefits are provided to eligible City employees, with such amendments to be effective as of ____________________, 1998; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Employee Relations, Employe Benefits Division, has received requests from the Frederick Pabst Theatre Board to allow its employees to obtain coverage under the Group Policy; and

WHEREAS, The recommended amendment to the Group Policy is an amendment permitting affiliated non-City employees of the Frederick Pabst Theatre Board to purchase long-term disability insurance from Standard Insurance at no cost to the City; and

WHEREAS, It will be necessary for the City to enter into an agreement with the Frederick Pabst Theatre Board to permit the participation of its employees under the Group Policy; now therefore, be it
