Analysis
Currently, there is some inconsistency between the code language and the language contained in the handbook of operations promulgated by the ambulance service board concerning the transportation of emergency patients by ambulance service providers. This ordinance clarifies this inconsistency by providing that any ambulance service provider certified under the citywide medical emergency system transport an emergency patient to the hospital of his or her choice unless medical or weather conditions warrant transport to the closest medically-appropriate hospital.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 75-15-12-n of the code is repealed and recreated to read:
75-15. Ambulance Service Regulations.
12. REQUIREMENTS.
n. Transport the patient to the hospital of his or her choice unless medical or weather conditions warrant transport to the closest medically-appropriate hospital.
