Analysis

This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit of Battles, Jerome v. City of Milwaukee, FPC Case No.  03C0666 in the total amount of $25,000.00.

Body

Whereas, The plaintiff, Jerome Battles, has filed a federal court law suit against the City of Milwaukee ; and

Whereas, The plaintiff has agreed to settle the lawsuit for the amount of $25,000.00 total; and

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $25,000, made payable to Emile Banks & Associates in trust, in full and final settlement of this lawsuit, upon receipt of a release of claims, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-0001-S118-006300.
