This resolution authorizes the Community Block Grant Administration (CBGA) to apply for funding from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide funding for Round II EZ/EC Social Security Block Grant activity to CBGA.
 
 
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services for a Round II EZ/EC Social Security Block Grant program, operated by HUD and identified as CFDA #14.244; and
 
Whereas, CBGA will collaborate with community based organizations and appropriate City departments and officials to prepare an application to the U. S. Department of HUD; and
 
Whereas, It has been determined that the benefits to the City from these grant funds appear to exceed the City's share of costs and other obligations to be incurred under this program; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application is authorized and directs the Community Block Grant Administration to coordinate the request for funds in an amount not to exceed $100,000,000 for the development of eligible activity permitted under the grant guidelines; and, be it
 
Further Resolved That prior to awarding and funding activity under any award of funds, CBGA will bring its recommendations to the Common Council for its review and approval.
