Analysis
This resolution will result in the sale of a surplus Milwaukee Public Schools' vacant lot.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns in trust for the Milwaukee Board of School Directors a vacant lot at 402 South 4th Street that has minor parking lot improvements and was once used for additional parking for Milwaukee Tech High School; and
Whereas, The parking lot is no longer used by school employees and students, receives minimal use and has deteriorating improvements that are a blighting influence on the neighborhood; and
Whereas, The adjoining property owner, Roberto Rivera, submitted an unsolicited Offer to Purchase the Milwaukee Board of School Directors' property for $25,200; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Board of School Directors declared the property surplus to the school district and accepted the Offer to Purchase; and
Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that the lot is surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City-owned vacant lot at 402 South 4th Street is declared surplus to municipal needs and that said Offer to Purchase from Roberto Rivera is accepted; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, or assigns, is authorized to execute the deed, perform other acts necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution and that the net sale proceeds shall be returned to Milwaukee Public Schools.
