Analysis
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting applications to utilize funding under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program. The Department of Public Works is applying for funding for five projects. Successful grant applications will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and a 20 percent local share.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting project applications for funding in fiscal years 2026-2030 under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program; and

Whereas, Projects approved for the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and 20 percent local share; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has identified five projects for infrastructure-related improvements; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has submitted applications for the following projects:

1. Holton Street Traffic Safety Improvements
2. Burleigh Street Traffic Safety Improvements
3. South Powerline Trail HAST Connector South
4. Teutonia Avenue Safe Routes to Transit
5. South Powerline Trail - Gateway to Milwaukee

Whereas, The total estimated cost of this project is $10,576,365.70 with a grantor share of $8,461,092.56 and a local share of $2,115,273.14;

Whereas, A local resolution of support for the proposed projects must be executed and submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation prior to December 29, 2025; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Engineer is authorized to submit applications to the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program for the following projects:
