Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Gorski Flu Grant.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Gorski Flu Grant from the Blood Research Institute of the Blood Center of Wisconsin in the amount of $62,500. This project is a five-year multi-disciplinary, multi-site study of how the immune system responds to a virus traveling through the population.

BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Blood Research Institute of the Blood Center of Wisconsin to study how the immune system responds to a virus traveling through the population; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 09/30/04 to 09/29/09 would cost $62,500 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Blood Research Institute of the Blood Center of Wisconsin is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects fund, the following amounts for the project titled Gorski Flu Grant:
