Substitute resolution relative to the certification and re-certification application to the U. S. Department of Justice Weed and Seed Program.
ANLS:
This resolution allows the City of Milwaukee to apply for certification and re-certification from the U. S. Department of Justice for the Weed and Seed program.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is applying for certification and re-certification to receive continued grant funds for the Weed and Seed Grant program under CFDA Number 16.595 from the United States Department of Justice, and
 
Whereas, The Milwaukee Weed and Seed initiative is in a low income high-crime neighborhood of the Safe & Sound area. Based on a three year evaluation, there has been a drop in crime in the Milwaukee Weed and Seed neighborhoods as compared to adjacent areas; and
 
Whereas, The neighborhood of Avenues West - Metcalfe Park - Mid-Town Neighborhood is applying for re-certification to receive continued funding from the Weed and Seed Program. Also, the Weed and Seed program is expanding into a new neighborhood, the United South Neighborhood. This neighborhood is applying for initial certification; The applications are attached to this resolution; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application for the required certifications and re-certifications to the United States Department of Justice is authorized and the Community Block Grant Administration shall accept the approved certifications without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 ( Grant Ordinance); and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City of Milwaukee assures and certifies that it will comply with regulations, policies, guidelines and requirements with respect to certification of the United States Department of Justice Program.
