Substitute resolution authorizing the submittal of an application for the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice Weed and Seed Grant for 1998.
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Community Block Grant Administration (CBGA) to apply for funding from the Wisconsin Department of Justice to provide funding for Weeding activity to the Police Department and for Seeding activity to CBGA.
BODY:
Whereas, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice for a State Weed and Seed program; and
Whereas, CBGA will collaborate with the Milwaukee Police department and the Milwaukee Public Schools and other appropriate City departments and officials to prepare and application to the State Department of Justice; and
Whereas, it has been determined that the benefits to the City from these grant funds appear to exceed the City's share of costs and other obligations to be incurred under this program; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application is authorized and directs the Community Block Grant Administration to coordinate the request for funds in an amount not to exceed $500,000 for the development of eligible activity permitted under the grant guidelines; and, be it
Further Resolved That prior to awarding and funding activity under any award of funds, CBGA will bring its recommendations to the Common Council for its review and approval.
