Title
Substitute resolution appealing the Historic Preservation Commission's action denying a certificate of appropriateness for the remodeling of 3230 West McKinley Boulevard (Cold Spring Park Historic District).
Analysis
This resolution reverses the July 14, 2003, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for the installation of skylights on a building at 3230 West McKinley Boulevard in the Cold Spring Park Historic District. This resolution would, in effect, grant the certificate of appropriateness.
Body
Whereas, The property at 3230 West McKinley Boulevard is within the area designated as the Cold Spring Park Historic District, and the owners of all buildings within historic districts are required to seek a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission before in any way altering the exterior of their buildings; and
Whereas, The owners of this property have requested a certificate of appropriateness for skylights installed on their property; and
Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission, on July 14, 2003, rejected this request after a public hearing, citing the inappropriateness of skylights in this area; and
Whereas, The owners of this property, pursuant to s. 308-81-9-f of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances, are entitled to appeal the decision of the Historic Preservation Commission to the Common Council, and the owners have filed a request for a hearing of their appeal in a timely manner; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the July 14, 2003, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for the installation of skylights in a property at 3230 West McKinley Boulevard is reversed.
