Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Maintenance Covenant document between the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District requiring the City of Milwaukee to keep, preserve, and maintain the green infrastructure located in the terrace on the south side of West Juneau Avenue west of North 17th Street, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Body
Whereas, Stormwater pollution control is an important component of the City of Milwaukee’s (City) storm water management regulations and the City’s stormwater permit with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR); and
Whereas, Nonpoint sources such as roadways have been recognized as the primary source of environmental pollution by discharging polluted runoff directly into the local streams and water bodies, threatening natural habitat and species; and
Whereas, In 2014, the City was awarded Green Solutions for Separate Infrastructure and Sewer Separation (GSSISS) Funding from Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD); and
Whereas, The funds allowed green infrastructure consisting of a bioswale to be installed in the terrace on the south side of West Juneau Avenue west of North 17th Street; and
Whereas, The agreement for said funding stipulated that the City shall execute a maintenance covenant in favor of MMSD; and
Whereas, MMSD has drafted said covenant which shall be in effect for a period of ten years; now therefore, be it;
