Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $20,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund to the Atkinson/Capitol/Teutonia Commercial District Street Enhancement Project.
Analysis
This substitute resolution approves the transfer and expenditure of $20,000 for the Atkinson/Capitol/Teutonia Commercial District Street Enhancement Project. The street enhancement improvements will include directional signage for the ongoing construction/paving project, banners and other commercial district identification enhancements.
Body
Whereas, The 2003 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee (“City”) contains $20,000 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund; and

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and

Whereas, On November 6, 2002, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee created Business Improvement District No. 29 (“BID No. 29”) via File No. 020831 and approved its first year Operating Plan; and

Whereas, BID No. 29 (Atkinson/Capitol/Teutonia or “ACT”) has worked collaboratively with area business owners to market and promote the commercial district; and

Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the Atkinson, Capitol and Teutonia Neighborhood Commercial District; and

Whereas, BID No. 29 has identified project funds to match the amount of City funds for this project; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to transfer $20,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund Account No. ST04080000 to the appropriate project account, No. STO4083200; and, be it
