- Analysis -

Current common council charter school regulations set a limit of 1,250 total students for the 1998-99 school year, but provide no limit for subsequent school years. This ordinance sets the maximum number of students in common council charter schools at 1,500 students, beginning with the 1999-2000 school year. The ordinance deletes a requirement that the charter school review committee recommend a maximum number of students, if the common council requests such a recommendation.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 330-24-b of the code is repealed and recreated to read:

330-24. Maximum number of charter school students.

2.b.The maximum number of total estimated charter school students for the 1999-2000 school year and each school year thereafter is 1,500 students.
