- Analysis -

This ordinance establishes an effective date of June 1, 1999, for the enforcement of the ordinance relating to advertising of tobacco products. The ordinance also affirmatively states that the ordinance does not apply to pre-existing contracts only for a period of 6 months after the effective date.

BODY:

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Part 3 of ordinance file number 971613 is repealed.

Part 2. Section 244-20-4 of the code is created to read:

244-20. Advertising of Tobacco Products.

4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This section shall not become effective and enforceable until June 1, 1999. This section will not apply to contracts for advertising in existence on its effective date for a period of 6 months from June 1, 1999.
