Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding
of the Tobacco Control Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Tobacco Control Grant from the Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services in the amount of $288,299. The purpose of this project is to support a broad-based community tobacco coalition in order to achieve a strategic community plan to eliminate tobacco-related health disparities and the morbidity and mortality associated with tobacco use.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services to support a broad-based community tobacco coalition in order to achieve a strategic community plan to eliminate tobacco-related health disparities and the morbidity and mortality associated with tobacco use; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/06 to 12/31/06 would cost $288,299 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Tobacco Control Grant:
