Resolution to authorize the naming of Art Museum Drive as a private road extending east from North Lincoln Memorial Drive then southeasterly to East Michigan Street, in the 4th Aldermanic District. (Infrastructure Services Division)
Analysis
Santiago Calatrava has been commissioned to develop an architecturally sophisticated pavillion with a crowning brise soleil, being a translucent wing like structure as part of the art museum expansion. To provide access to this area, the Department of Public Works constructed a roadway which extends approximately 100 feet east from North Lincoln Memorial Drive then southeasterly approximately 500 feet to connect with East Michigan Street. The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the naming of Art Museum Drive as a private roadway.

Whereas, The naming of this private road, which provides public access to the new art museum Calatrava expansion, extends approximately 100 feet east from North Lincoln Memorial Drive then south approximately 500 feet to East Michigan Street. The City of Milwaukee constructed this roadway to support the art expansion; and
Whereas, Chapter 113-1 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances which provides for the naming of private roadways, will be complied with in the naming of this private road which will be used by the public to access the area to enjoy the Calatrava experience; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee will snow plow this private roadway; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the following described right of way be named as follows:
ART MUSEUM DRIVE
A private road from North Lincoln Memorial Drive southeasterly to East Michigan Street located in a part of the Northeast ¼ and the Southeast ¼ of Section 28, Township 7 North, Range 22 East, described as follows:
