Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of portable wheel load weighers from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol to be used in the enforcement of vehicle weight limit laws on the streets of the City of Milwaukee.
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and
Whereas, The State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol has offered to donate portable wheel load weighers to the Milwaukee Police Department; and
Whereas, This donation will assist the Milwaukee Police Department in enforcing the vehicle weight limit laws in effect for roadways in the City of Milwaukee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept a donation of portable wheel load weighers from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol; and, be it
Further Resolved, That such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
