Title
Substitute resolution reversing the Historic Preservation Commission's action denying a certificate of appropriateness to raze the property at 2720 West Kilbourn Avenue.
Analysis
This resolution reverses the January 22, 2002, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for a request to raze a property at 2720 West Kilbourn Avenue in the Concordia Historic District. This resolution would, in effect, permit the razing of the property to proceed.
Body
Whereas, The property at 2720 West Kilbourn Avenue is within the area designated as the Concordia Historic District, and the owners of all buildings within historic districts are required to seek certificates of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission before in any way altering the exterior of or razing their buildings; and
Whereas, The owner of this property has requested a certificate of appropriateness for the purpose of razing this property; and
Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission, on January 22, 2002, rejected this request after a public hearing; and
Whereas, The owner of this property, pursuant to s. 308-81-9-f of the Milwaukee Code, is entitled to appeal this decision of the Historic Preservation Commission to the Common Council, and has filed a request for a hearing of his appeal in a timely manner; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the January 22, 2002, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for the razing of a property at 2720 West Kilbourn Avenue is reversed.
