Resolution appropriating $55,000.00 from the Common Council's 1998 Contingency Fund No. 09-910-8000 to cover additional expenses incurred in the development of the new selection procedures for City of Milwaukee Police Officers and Police Aides in conjunction with United States of America v. City of Milwaukee, et al., U.S. District Court Civil Action No. 74-C-480.

-Analysis-
This resolution authorizes additional funding to cover the costs of development of the new selection procedure for police officers and police aides in the Milwaukee Police Department. It is estimated that the additional cost incurred to complete the selection procedure will be approximately $55,000.00.
BODY:
Whereas, The U.S. Federal District Court, on April 24, 1998, entered a final order requiring the City of Milwaukee to make every effort to develop and complete the selection procedure within two years; such procedure to be in compliance with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, 29 CFR sec. 1607 et al. (1997), which will enable the Fire and Police Commission to lawfully hire police officers and police aides for the Milwaukee Police Department without interruption; and
Whereas, The current additional costs to complete development of the selection procedures estimated at approximately $55,000.00; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the sum of $55,000.00 shall be appropriated from the Common Council's 1998 budgeted Contingency Fund, No. 09-910-8000 to a special fund within the Fire and Police Commission for the purpose of the paying the consultants in conjunction with the development of selection procedures for the City of Milwaukee police officers and police aides.
